This Article provides links to resources on DogWellNet and from our partners to support panel discussions that are part of the 1st Annual Canine Health Summit hosted by Embark and the Westminster Kennel Club. There are several free course resources for newer breeders that cover basics. These courses are MUST READS for anyone looking to start a breeding program - good for breeder mentors too - well organized, thorough and concisely presented in a user friendly interface. Content will continue to be developed and added to the catalog of courses; including training for Canine Good Citizen Evaluators and Groomers, additional breed courses and exams, tests for performance event judges, and more." BERNER UNIVERSITY, a two-day educational conference, convenes once each year at the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America National Specialty. Seminars and workshops are taught by leading veterinary researchers, animal behaviorists and BMDCA members with specific expertise. The Berner Blackboard Presenter notes and recommended articles are gathered and distributed on a CD for all Berner U participants each year. Education of breeding officials and breeders is a priority and major focus of the SKK’s activities. The central organisation has compiled extensive material, including several books (in Swedish), to support the education. The SKK organizes yearly courses for breeding officials as well as regular breeding conferences. The investment in education is one stage in the SKK’s efforts to quality-assure dog breeding. A major point in the breeding strategy of the Norwegian Kennel Club (NKK) is to make the breeders fully aware of their responsibility, both to the dogs selected for breeding as well as the puppies, the byers as well as the modern society. We want to focus on knowledge, cooperation, respect and honesty among breeders and dog owners. This education is basic for achieving the main goal in fog breeding: Functionally healthy dogs, with breed typical conformation and mentality, dogs that can live a lo- Breeder Education The Breeders School (Oppdretterskolen) of the Norwegian Kennel Club (NKK) was established in 1992. This education for dog breeders include two week-end seminars, which are hold in all the 11 regions of the Norwegian Kennel Club, to make the education available for breeders all over the country.
Everybody will have a lot to learn on these courses, both people who consider having their first litter, as well as breeders with life-long experience.
