Education of the general public about health and welfare issues and about the joys and responsibilities of pet-ownership is a priority for many stakeholders in dog health. An increasing focus is on education of children about the joys, rights and responsibilities of pet ownership.
In this section we will link to many programs and resources that are available for information and to help anyone planning to design similar programmes in their country, city or area.
- UK: The Young Kennel Club: "The Young Kennel Club is the club for kids who love dogs, helping children learn new skills, build confidence and make new friends. We welcome ANYONE between the ages of 6 years right up to 24 years!"

FCI Youth: the next generation of the FCI: Features educational programs for children; lectures for the general public and families - Responsible Ownership, Canine Socialization, General Care; Social Media and provides learning opportunities and resources to teach the next generation of FCI leaders about loving and protecting dogs.
[*]AKC Junior Showmanship: AKC Junior Showmanship classes are open to children from 9 to 18 years old. Resources for getting started exhibiting at AKC events as a Junior handler; literature to teach responsible pet ownership for parents and young children.
- CKC Junior Handling: Any club that is accredited by The Canadian Kennel Club to hold a conformation show or obedience trial may apply to the CKC to hold junior handling competitions for conformation and/or obedience in conjunction with its shows and trials.
