Brief Bio: CAG collaborates with academic laboratories, breed groups, and breeders to contribute to basic and applied research to improve knowledge and develop resources for animal breeders and owners. Tests offered and developed by CAG give breeders the tools they need to reduce the occurrence of undesirable traits through selective breeding and to confidently choose top quality animals for their breeding programs. Animal owners can be assured that their animals will be clear of specific diseases, and veterinarians can confirm diagnoses and support treatment decisions.

      About Us:

CAG GmbH, the Center for Animal Genetics was jointly founded in July 2014 by CeGaT GmbH [Center for Genomics and Transciptomics; Limited] and dw sportpferde GmbH. This partnership brought together CeGaT’s award-winning expertise in molecular genetics, sequencing, and data analysis and dw sportpferde’s experience in the world of animal breeding. Our mission is to leverage advances in human genetic technologies to benefit animals and their owners, thereby promoting animal health and well-being. CAG’s outstanding genetic testing laboratory offers optimum turn-around time and accurate results. Owners receive comprehensive reports with their test results, including recommendations for breeding decisions and for any specific health care the animal should receive. Specialized CAG geneticists are always available for personal consultations and counseling, whether it is about what genetic tests are most appropriate for an animal, or what the results really mean for an individual animal or entire breeding program.

The HGTD Database catalogs information provided voluntarily from genetic test providers (GTPs) including information on their company and services, quality measures and expertise, tests offered and more. We are continually engaging more GTP participants. IPFD has collated and assembled existing and new resources for genetic counselling and education; and provided the foundation for further developments.
