Agria Djurförsäkring (Agria Animal Insurance) is one of the world's leading animal insurers specialising in small animal and equine insurance. The company dominates Scandinavian pet insurance and has recognised the importance of working closely with the veterinary profession since insuring the first horse in 1890.

Collaborations with other animal organizations have helped Agria remain at the forefront of animal health development and building upon these relationships will remain a major focus for Agria and its future growth. Agria also maintains a close relationship with the veterinary profession and breeders in all its markets - Sweden, the UK, Norway and Denmark. These important relationships provide the platform on which to develop products and services to satisfy the changing needs of pet owners and the many organizations that support them.
Agria´s History
1890: Skandinaviska Kreatursförsäkringsbolaget SKFB was founded and the first horse was insured
1924: First dog insured
1970: Jordbrukets Försäkringsbolag, JFB, was created by integration of SKFB and Östergötlands Kreatursförsäkringsbolag.
1972: The first cat insured
1977: First parrot insured
1992: Agria becomes a 100 % subsidiary company of LFAB and the Länsförsäkrings group as specialists in animal and crop insurance.
1999: Agria receives the Swedish Quality Award for the first time
2003: Agria receives the Swedish Quality Award for the second time
2005: Agria starts own operations in Norway
2006: Agria Finalist for the EFQM Excellence Award
2007 to Present: Agria acquires PetPartners (UK)... now Agria Pet Insurance in the UK Sweden, UK, Norway and Denmark.

Structure:Agria Animal Insurance is a for profit company with a long history of supporting research, educational and other activities through the Agria-Swedish Kennel Club Research Fund. Sponsorship for the IPFD is from this fund.

Research and Publications:In 2020, 59 applications were received by the fund. Thirteen new projects have been granted grants. In addition to these, the fund contributes to a number of longer development projects in veterinary medicine, such as a doctoral project on knee diseases in dogs, dogs' weight and impact on health and disease, breed profiles and a project that looks at treatment levels in different conditions. The fund has also set aside funds to investigate the number of dogs and cats in Sweden, digital conferences and support for a position as senior professor at SLU and more. Learn more
